Description

Cut from a 1950s pattern, using new fabrics, this apron covers you completely from neck to hips, and has three big pockets along the front hemline. In reality, it fastens with three big beige hook and loop circles but they are on the inside. Big 1¾” covered buttons are decorative on the outside. This touch closure might be helpful for arthritic hands.

Colors are orange coral, light blue, royal blue, jade green and white. The patchwork is a print.

The back extends into a tab on the front shoulder and the hemlines are scalloped. The back has a V neck while the front is a moderate scoop so it will do a great job of protecting any clothes you wear underneath. I suggest its starring role in cooking, baking, dining, gardening, hair care, or even as a sleeveless summer top, although sideboobage might be visible in some women. I will comment that the armholes are actually quite high and this apron will probably not fit you if you’re bigger than size 12.

All internal seams are French style and all outer edges are bound in royal blue bias tape. The apron’s fabrics are cotton, I believe. I haven’t done a burn test but they feel like cotton.

The apron is shown on a dress form with these measurements 39½” (..101.5cm) bust, 32” (91cm) waist and 44” (112cm) hips. The apron is slightly too snug on this dress form. GARMENT measurements: front length from shoulder to hemline 30½” (77.5cm)  bust 43” (109cm). Remember, your body measurements should be considerably less than the apron’s so you can move and reach!

Suggested care:  hand or machine wash gentle with cool or cold water; line, rack or tumble dry on low. Color-preserving detergents like Woolite for Darks or Colorguard Cheer will prolong the life of the colors.

Apron 173 and apron 140 are this style in other sizes and fabrics.
