Description
This apron is the epitome of time-honored midcentury style. I made it from a 1940s pattern but you would find women in the 1950s into the 1960s wearing this style. It is flattering, easy to put on and take off, and doesn’t need much ironing, if any. The front waist area has gathers, there are two commodious pockets, the back waist ties are long and wide so you can make a big happy bow, and the back neckline fastens with one large green button so the apron comes off in a whisk.
Measurements: front shoulder line to hemline 40.5”; waist when tied so that the back forms a straight H 38”; ties 37” each; skirt length from side waist to hemline 23.5”.
The fabric is a 100% cotton morning glory print on a green background; all edges are bound in old-style narrow Kelly green bias.
Please care for this apron by washing in cool or warm water with color protecting detergents like Woolite for Darks or Colorguard Cheer. Dry on a clothesline, a rack, or in a dryer at low temperature setting.
Apron 200 is this style in a different fabric.
